Marking and Issue of Results

All completed exam papers are returned to Cambridge for marking. Examiners are trained, and then as they mark, their work is continuously monitored and checked by highly experienced senior examiners.

There are four grades for the Cambridge Main Suite (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE): Pass with Merit, Pass, Narrow Fail and Fail. The grade is based on the candidate's total score in all the papers. Five or six weeks after the examination, all candidates receive a Statement of Result giving their overall grade and showing their relative performance in the three examination papers by means of a graphical profile. Certificates are issued to successful candidates approximately ten weeks after the examination.
